timewasters and a question

A couple of folks in my life are on my list because they have passed along a couple of games that I find addictive - it's only fair that I try to get you hooked as well. One is Text Twist, a word building game that will improve your Scrabble game (oh well, that's what I'm telling myself) Try it at http://get.games.yahoo.com/proddesc?gamekey=texttwist play the free web game, why spend $$$ when you don't have too. The other is http://freerice.com/index.php Sponsors of the site are donating 20 grains of rice to help combat world hunger while you test your vocabulary.

and now for the question...I'm joining my college roomies in San Diego next month. Any recommendation about where to stay and where to eat?

There was an amazing Italian restaurant we ate at after the marathon. I'll ask Bob.

That's great that you're still getting together with your college friends. I keep in touch with no one from college, but still have about a dozen that keep in touch from elementary/high school. In fact, we're in the process of trying to start up a rotating annual mini-reunion.
I lived in San Diego from 1997-2001, but my memories of specific restaurants are hazy. The Chart House next to the Hotel del Coronado was fun (or the Chart House in Solana Beach). We often ate at the Old Town Mexican Cafe (I think--right in the middle of Old Town by the plaza), but on Saturday nights they didn't take reservations and we sometimes waited 2 hours (that's what margaritas are for, right?) The downtown area has been hugely revitalized since I was there though, so I'm sure there are tons of new great places.
